Abstract

Ahmad Yani International Airport serves as the primary air transportation hub for Semarang and its surrounding areas. Population growth has generated a positive trend in the air transportation sector, potentially impacting the airport's runway capacity and pavement condition. This research projects passenger demand for the next 20 years, taking into account historical flight data, Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB), population, tourists, and Hajj pilgrims. The analysis indicates that the runway capacity is projected to reach 59 aircraft movements per hour in 2043, which is sufficient for the anticipated demand. In conclusion, the runway capacity at Ahmad Yani International Airport for the upcoming 20-year projection period is expected to be adequate to accommodate the expected air traffic. However, the airport's pavement will require reconstruction with a 31 cm thick overlay to maintain good service until the target year.
