Pengaruh Penambahan Inhibitor Abu Sekam Padi pada Cat Primer Sebagai Penghambat Laju Korosi pada Carbody Kereta (Mildsteel Ss400)

Currently, corrosion is often found on mildsteel-based train carbody. The rate of corrosion cannot be stopped, but it can be inhibited or controlled.. The addition of silica to the paint can be a solution to the problem. The corrosion rate of a material can be inhibited by silica compounds.. The purpose of this research is to most effective concentration of silica extracted from rice husk ash to be added to paint as a corrosion rate inhibitor on the train carbody. Epoxy primer paint was applied to SS400 mild steel using spray method. Immersion was carried out in a corrosive solution for 10 days, then at the concentration obtained the lowest corrosion rate value of 13% addition of silica inhibitor which amounted to 126.452 mm/y. In addition, from at the highest adhesion value the test results were obtained at a concentration of 13% addition of silica inhibitor with an adhesion value of 2.73 Mpa. Therefore, the most effective inhibitor concentration is at a concentration of 13% silica inhibitor.
